Shortly I came across an mp3, titled the “Virtual Hair cut”, and believe me I was bewitched by the level of hearing illusion. By the time I finished the mp3, I got hold of my hair to assure that they are ‘there’ and It was just an illusion!!

Auditory illusion?
Most of us are aware of the fun side of Optical illusion but auditory illusion is a less popular term. Auditory Illusion is the illusion of hearing sounds which are not present in the stimulus, or impracticable sounds. The illusion demonstrates our ability to locate sounds in space; by comparing the inputs to the two ears, we can work out where a sound is coming from.

The fact.co.uk reports that several projects are exploring the potential for creating an illusion of presence within virtual audio environments and researching ways to piece together illusory space onto an existing space through the use of a hyper real 3D audio system to provide an invisible but realistic “Parallel world” .
Researcher’s are looking forward to the prospects of transmitting a 3D audio experience live (in realtime) from one place to another via the internet. Other longer term project exploring various viewer tracking devices as a ‘hands free’ interactive model for realtime audio composition.

Actually Dave, you ignorant . If you were listening to just “stereo” recordings, you would only be able to hear left/center/right. What makes this so remarkable is that these recordings work 360 degrees. If you would have payed attention to the Starkey Virtual Haircut, you’d notice that the sounds move front/back/left/right/up/down and everywhere in between. If those sounds were just stereo, you wouldn’t be able to tell if the clippers were close or far away. The Starkey Virtual Hair Cut does a fantastic job of truly fooling our brains in to believing the sounds are being heard in actual three-dimensional space and not just L/R/C. (as long as they wore headphones while listening) Most intelligent people would have figured out that these recordings are not just “stereo”.
Long story short you’re an idiot, and the millions of other people aware of/impressed by this new development…aren’t.
I’ve been keeping up to date on the birth of “real 3d sound”, for quite some time now and the implications for gaming/movies/the internet are mind boggling and exciting. Not to mention the reason this was actually worked on, hearing loss. For people who are eligible for cochlear implants, this could completely fix the “flat” sound they get with current cochlear set ups. (As long as they can get the implants in both ears.)
While these recordings have been around for a little over a year, there are still TONS of people not aware of the advancements made in this field so…THANK-YOU TT FOR SHARING! Also, Myselfv1 thank you for su-ing it. That is the only reason I came across this article.

Whoa that really bugged me out! I closed my eyes to better focus and truly immerse myself into the recordings…and I must say, it truly felt as if they were here with me! @Myself_v1 I’m unsure whether you stumbled here, or added this “Stumble”, but that’s how I got here!
